There are many professional world class layouts that will be available to view throughout the convention.  These layouts are in various stages of completion from only benchwork to completed.  The chart below list all the tours available along with a description and photos.

A 13' x 20' double decked N scale freelanced layout with proto-typical enhancements located in the lower section of a tri-level home in Livonia Michigan.  The main railroad modeled is the Pere Marquette Detroit & Chicago Divisions in the 1949 - 1952 era.

Danforth Hadley & Northern

The DH&N Railroad (Danforth Hadley & Northern) is a Proto-Freelance, loosely based on the Northern Pacific Railway in Central Montana, from Huntley to Garrison in 1952.  It includes NP and GN interchanges and traffic.  It is 38' X 52', services 10 towns using NCE DCC.  Track is code 55 and all turnouts are handmade.

C&NW

Peninsula Division

The C&NW Peninsula Div. is set in the 40’s and 50’s and is basically free lanced. I chose this time period because like many others I like to run steam and also first generation diesels. Most of the locomotives have sound and all are equipped with decoders. The layout in controlled by “EasyDCC” from CVP Products.

Central Division

The Reading Lines-Central Division is a proto-freelanced layout. The track plan is totally fictional, towns are named for real places the Reading served.  Locomotives and rolling stock are appropriate for what the Reading used during the time period modeled.

Michigan Southern

 

The Michigan Southern Railway is a 25x25 HO layout in Northville Michigan. The Layout features three decks with a helix. This switching layout is basically a point-to-point single track main containing lots of of operation in each of its 13 towns.

Spartan Division

The Spartan Division is a proto-freelanced layout of the Burlington Northern reflecting the results of rejecting the proposed merger with the Santa-Fe.  The layout is a round the wall layout consisting of 200 feet of dual mainline with staging yards at Omaha and Portland/Long Beach.

Multi-Level urban & mountainous scenery. Interchanges with the P&LE, Erie and C&O railroads.  Operations include freight and passenger trains with pusher and dedicated switcher service.

An under construction whole room multi-level HO layout with all hand made turnouts.  It represents the Pennsylvania Railroad in and around Altoona including the infamous "Horseshoe Curve"!

Port Jervis Division

The Port Jervis Division of The Erie Lackawanna Railroad is a 23' x 20' mostly double tracked layout.  It is a loose interpretation of the EL between Port Jervis New York, and Binghamton New York.  The double main goes to single trackage for a short distance, because of bridge & tunnel requirements (also for operating interest!).

The layout models The Copper Valley Railway, a fictitious feeder line that interchanges with The Milwaukee Road in McKeever, Michigan.  The railroad also interchanges with the SOO line and the DSS&A in Houghton, Michigan.

The model that brought back forgotten history.  One of the largest and busiest train ferries in the world, and sailed as part of the SP’s double track mainline Transcontinental Route between Sacramento and San Francisco for 51 years.

The White Lake Division of the Southern Pacific located in a 30' x 40' room, it models the transition era from steam through first generation of diesels.  It is modeled in the rural-suburban areas of southern California with beautiful backdrops by Norm Logan!

Pierre WillermetAllegheny & Eastern Freelanced, Designed for operation, HO 20' x 25', 80% sceniced controlled by CVP-DCC Radio throttles.  Running on the system are many sound equipped steam and diesel locomotives!

A HO layout prototypically, operationally, and historically accurate depicting selected railroad lines radiating from the Detroit-Windsor riverfront.  Featured railroads are the Pere Marquette, Michigan Central/NYC, GTW, Wabash, PRR and Ann Arbor. The era is the early-1950’s, with a specific date for each route modeled.

Redford Model RR ClubSandhill & Western Sandhill & Western, Freelanced HO 26' X 52' layout with 471' of double track mian and 302' of single track main.  It has great scenery that is about 80% complete and runs both Steam & Diesel locomotive using the CVP DCC System.

Paul Omilian Geriville Railroad A 20' x 10' two level walk-in layout, 95% scenery completed.  A small-town Bridge Railroad servicing a large industrial district and a coal mine.  It has 3 staging yards and interchanges with 2 class A railroads.

Proto typical HO scale model railroad of the Norfolk & Western Clinch River Branch coal country in 1936.  The layout is a point to point design controlled by DCC with sound and is 65 percent sceniced.

Clear Creek Branch

The layout is point to point operation with continuous running option. It is modeled after the Colorado & Southern’s Clear Creek Branch and operates from Forks Creek through Idaho Springs, Georgetown across the High Bridge to Silver Plume.

Chi-Town Union Station

Layout is located in a 10,000 sq. ft. building of which 8,000 is dedicated to the layout.  Trackage in operation measures out to be 7,000+ ft. on which 125-130 DCC controlled engines and 1,100+ cars traverse.  The layout is 30 - 40% sceniced and is the holder of the "Guiness Book Of World Records - Longest Model Train"!!!

O scale layout in the upstairs of a 40 x 72 climate controlled barn.  The layout models the Pennsylvannia Railroad Middle Division in the year 1955.  It is 2 rail hand laid tracks and ties.
