Pere Marquette - Detroit & Chicago Divisions
A 13' x 20' double decked N scale freelanced layout with proto-typical enhancements located in the lower section of a tri-level home in Livonia Michigan. The main railroad modeled is the Pere Marquette Detroit & Chicago Divisions in the 1949 - 1952 era. Three other railroads are represented the Pennsylvania Railroad & Wabash Railroad had passenger and frieght services in Detroit and Chicago. The third is the Ann Arbor Railroad that exchanged with the Pere Marquette in AnnPere which resides just outside Howell Michigan. Highlighted will be selected areas along the route from Detroit Michigan to Chicago Illinois. It is constructed using Altas code 80 flex track and Peco turnouts. The trackwork is mounted on ladder frame benchwork, made from 3/4 inch furniture grade plywood, topped with 1/2 birch plywood and 1/4 inch extruded foam. The scenery is extruded pink foam topped with plastercloth, covered by a variety of materials like ground tea leaves and Woodland Scenics ground foam. The trees are made from a mixture of natural and synthetic materials.
The layout is in progress with 90% of the trackage complete and is controlled by the CVP Easy DCC system.
