Copper Valley Railway - Jim Zinser
The layout is HO & HOn3 scale, approximate area of 14’x28’ plus an 8’x10’ extension. Layout room is L shaped. It is freelanced set on the Keweenaw Peninsula which is "The Copper Country" in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the fall of 1954. It is DCC controlled with radio throttles with a mix of steam and diesels as motive power. The layout models The Copper Valley Railway, a fictitious feeder line that interchanges with The Milwaukee Road in McKeever, Michigan and terminates at Copper Harbor (both represented by a double ended staging yard). The railroad also interchanges with the SOO line and the DSS&A in Houghton, Michigan. At this point, the towns of Houghton and Hancock are the only ones completely finished and Mason is under construction. All other areas are in the benchwork stage. What is finished features rugged, UP scenery resplendent in fall colors, plus highly detailed structures.
